In February, we visited Malta for the first time with our dear friends on their babymoon! If you’re asking yourself – Where is Malta? I kind of was with you on that!! Malta is a tiny island country in the Mediterranean, close to Northern Africa and Tunisia, and in between Italy and Greece. Because of its location, it has influences from ALL of those amazing cultures, which made for some delicious restaurants and incredible scenery / architecture! Malta is also ANCIENT. As in, the apostle Paul in the Bible was shipwrecked here and it was already settled and thriving. Cool story – the Bible even mentions how kind the Maltese people were, all those thousands of years ago, and they are still so incredibly kind and welcoming! The capital, Valetta, almost felt like a fake little city nation – remember the nation of Genovia from the movie Princess Diaries? Yep, it was pretty much like that! So incredibly charming, cute and clean. They had banners hung everywhere throughout the city for St. Paul’s Day, a national holiday, and charming music pipes through the loudspeakers in the city. We also visited the island of Gozo, which has some very cool natural formations and sites like the Salt Flats and Blue Pool.
And a few iphone snaps from the week…We stayed at the incredible Casa Ellul in Valetta and LOVED it. We couldn’t recommend a hotel more! Such a charming boutique experience with the kindest staff and most delicious breakfast every morning.
