In August we had the opportunity to go to New Orleans for two days with my bff from college and her hubby for a little birthday getaway! Tim and Anna’s birthdays are both in August, and since they live in Chicago and us in Philly, we picked a new city to explore! The French Quarter was everything I thought it would be – a European cobblestone maze of charming streets, colorful buildings, little restaurants, shops and bars with so much charm! We spent our time there mostly wandering around and doing a TON of eating! The food in New Orleans was absolutely incredible. As someone who didn’t even like seafood, I made myself try oysters, fish, gumbo and other NOLA specialties, and I fell in love! We went to the Oyster House, Muriel’s on Jackson Square, JW Fins, the Carousel bar, and multiple other little gelato shops + brunch places, and I highly recommend ALL of them! We also drove out to the beautiful Oak Alley Plantation for one afternoon and it was stunning.
